Welcome Dr. Udani
We are excited to announce the addition of Vikram Udani, M.D. to NMC, July 2012 after completing his Chief Residency at UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Udani received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He majored in Neurobiology with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. During his senior year, he received the Dean’s Scholar Award, the highest undergraduate honor at Penn given to only 9 (out of 6000) undergraduates annually. He then went on to obtain his M.D. from the Stanford University School of Medicine. While at Stanford, Dr. Udani completed a Medical Scientist Research Fellowship. During this time he published several papers on the mechanisms of angiogenesis (blood vessel formation) in brain tumors.
After graduating from Stanford, Dr. Udani completed his residency with the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery. His residency included training at the Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, West LA Veteran’s Hospital, and Santa Monica-UCLA Orthopedic Hospital. As a resident, Dr. Udani completed over 1,200 operations and has expertise in all aspects of cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Udani's areas of special interest are surgery for cerebrovascular disorders including aneurysms, brain tumors and skull base surgery, microvascular decompression, complex spinal instrumentation, and nerve coaptation for repair of injured peripheral nerves.
